Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Light yellow semi sweet wine with a variety of fruit, citrus and floral aromas. Very pleasing to the palate featuring peach, honey, and sweet melon flavors. Light and fresh with a clean finish. This wine pairs well with the following foods: Sweet meats such as pork and smoked turkey, chicken, sea bass, trout, Asian food, havarti, gouda, pecans, candied walnuts, corn bread, honey bread, pecan pie, apple pie, baked pears, honey and almond-covered cheese, anything with caramel.

Vineyard

The grapes for our Chardonnay come from the Suisun Valley of California. The Suisun Valley has a generally warm climate and benefits from the cooling effects of moist ocean breezes that enter the valley via Suisun Bay. These winds cool the vineyards throughout the growing season. The grapes come from the vineyard of the Lanza family and their vineyard has been producing wine grapes since 1933.

Vintage

2013 was a near-ideal growing season in Suisun Valley, with a warm, dry spring fostering early budbreak and trouble-free flowering and grape set. Consistently mild summer weather free of rain or unwelcome heat spikes allowed our grapes to be harvested with an optimal balance of ripe, concentrated fruit flavors and lively acidity.

Winemaking

The 2013 Riesling was fermented in our Albany, NY winery using a hybrid yeast well suited for the balance of Rieslings. Fermentation was halted to leave a modest amount of residual sugar with acidity to balance it all out. After fermentation this wine was aged in stainless steel.
